Welcome home 🌿
Your plant has been traveling — a little droopiness or a loose leaf can be normal. The first 48 hours are all about helping it recover from transport and settle into its new spot.
If you follow the steps below, most plants perk up quickly.
Step 1: Unbox right away (best within a few hours)
Plants do best when they can breathe and get light after delivery.
Do this:
- Bring the box inside (avoid leaving it in cold/heat)
- Open carefully (don’t cut deep — stems/leaves can be close to the top)
- Remove any protective wrapping gently
Quick tip: If it’s cold outside, let the plant sit indoors in the box for 30–60 minutes before fully unwrapping (helps prevent shock).
Step 2: Inspect the plant (2-minute check)
You’re looking for what’s normal vs what needs support.
Normal after shipping
These are common and usually resolve quickly:
- Slight drooping or “tired” leaves
- A yellow leaf or two
- Minor soil movement in the box
- Small leaf bends or tiny cosmetic scuffs
Not normal (please report)
If you see any of these, take photos immediately and contact us:
- Main stems broken or plant crushed
- Severe bruising or major leaf loss
- Pot shattered in a way that destabilizes the plant
- Wrong plant / missing item(s)

Step 3: Clean up + reset the pot
- Gently remove loose soil from the box
- If soil has shifted, top it up lightly and press it down gently (don’t compact hard)
- Keep the plant in its nursery pot for now
Important: Please don’t repot in the first 1–2 weeks unless the plant is clearly unstable. Repotting adds extra stress.
Step 4: Water check (don’t auto-water!)
Shipping stress + overwatering is the #1 reason new plants struggle.
The simple test
Stick a finger into the soil:
- Top 2–3 cm feels dry? A small drink is usually helpful.
- Feels damp or cool? Wait. Let it dry a bit first.
How to water (gently):
- Water slowly until it starts to drain from the bottom
- Empty any excess water (plants don’t like “wet feet”)
If your plant arrived very dry and droopy, a careful watering often helps it bounce back within 24 hours.
Step 5: Placement for the first 48 hours
Think “calm recovery zone.”
Best temporary spot
- Bright, indirect light (near a window, but not harsh sun)
- Warm and stable temperature
- Away from drafts, radiators, or cold windows at night
Avoid in the first 48 hours
- Direct midday sun (can scorch stressed leaves)
- Cold balconies or unheated rooms
- Placing right next to a heater
Step 6: Let it rest (the “do less” rule)
Your plant needs time to adjust. In the first two days:
- Don’t fertilize
- Don’t repot
- Don’t prune heavily
- Don’t move it around repeatedly
What you can do:
Remove a fully yellow leaf if it comes off easily — it won’t recover and the plant can focus energy elsewhere.
Quick troubleshooting (first-week common questions)
“It looks sad/droopy”
Very common. Give it:
- Bright, indirect light
- A careful water check
- 24–48 hours to recover
“A leaf turned yellow”
One or two leaves can yellow after travel. If multiple leaves yellow quickly, it’s often too much water or low light.
“Soil spilled in the box”
Normal. Top it up gently and continue.
“Tiny brown tips”
Often from low humidity or travel stress. Not urgent.
Pest check (fast and simple)
We inspect carefully, but it’s smart to check on arrival.
Check:
- Undersides of leaves
- Where leaf meets stem
- Top layer of soil
If you see anything suspicious (webbing, clusters, sticky residue), take clear photos and contact us.
When to contact us
Please reach out if:
- The plant has severe transport damage
- It’s the wrong plant/size
- Something is missing
- The plant is declining fast within the first couple of days
